Vick is Back !!!

This post is surely going to ruffle some feathers..... but you know how good I am at keeping my "mouth" shut... I won't apologize... I will just direct you to the title of my blog again... Nuf Ced

Allow me to start by repeating a very profound quote I heard this morning, uttered by Rick Pitino:

"If you tell the truth, your problem becomes part of your past. If you tell a lie, it becomes part of your future."

How true as it is proven by baseball's elite..... A-Rod admitted to "juicing", now that's almost forgotten.... Clemens denies (lies) about his usage, his troubles continue to grow....

Michael Dwayne Vick...

For those who don't know (all 1 or 2 of you), Michael Vick was prosecuted for, plead guilty to (YES, I KNOW it was a plea bargain) and sentenced to 24 months in federal prison (Leavenworth) for organizing, conducting and running an illegal, inhumane, immoral and reprehensible multi-state dogfighting "network"... certainly ruining all chances at Presidency of the ASFPCA - the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.... Vick was also banned for life from all NFL activities (conditionally, as it were).

Vick served his sentence and it expired this past July... and for those of you also NOT in the know.... he was signed to a 1 yr $1.6 million contract with the Philadelphia Eagles as back-up to Donovan McNabb.... with a team option for a second year worth $5 million.

So, a rags (raised by un-wed parents in an area of Newport News, VA known as "Bad Newz") to riches to rags (Vick filed bankruptcy in July of 2008) to riches story ???.... Kudos to Commissioner Goodell for "lifting" the suspension !!!! although keeping Vick suspended until week 6 of the season....

I'm a dog-lover as much as the next guy... if anyone EVER hurt my Snoopy, they'd have to answer to me.... But, I am also by no means perfect.... and have surely done some F'd up things in my life... NO, nothing that could in any way, shape or form could be compared to what Michael Vick was involved in.... BUT, there is only one being that has the "power" to pass judgement.... and the last time I checked the label in my skivvies... it did NOT read... G.O.D. !!

So, to all those critical of the return of Vick, look in a mirror.... if you're worthy of sainthood, then I will bow at your feet.... if not, then realize that EVERYONE deserves a 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) chance... Let ye without fault cast the first stone... and wouldn't YOU like the ability to be gainfully employed if YOU had screwed up ?!?!?!? Football is all Vick knows....

I urge you to find the separation.... YES, he did some really REALLY horrible things to those dogs... but WTF does that have to do with football ?!?!?!? Did he bet on football games ??? By the same token he was sentenced and served for his acts of cruelty.... 24 months..... if he DIDN'T deserve a second chance, the sentence could have been 24 years... and his NFL suspension wouldn't be getting lifted....

As a human(e)..... bleh bleh bleh... as a football player, he's one of the greatest athletes to ever don a helmet.... give the man a break... He's great for the game of football.... a 3-time Pro-Bowler and already holding many quarterback rushing records. And dare I correct someone who posted his career completion percentage as being 52%... actually it's 53.8%... still not great but respectable considering his weapon is his wheels.... AND it takes 11 men to complete a pass...

I personally am happy at Vick's return and respect the Eagles for having the [guts] to sign him... at the "insistence" of Donovan McNabb HIMSELF !!!! although playing time might be tough to come by... GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!

I wish the Patriots had signed him..... at least there'd be no chance of having to face him.....
